  • Water stains on interior walls and/or ceilings:
    If you notice water stains on the walls or ceiling of your home's interior walls, this is often a case where your roof's underlayment is allowing moisture into your home.
  • Curled, cracked or missing shingles:"
    This indicates a shingle that is nearing the end of its lifespan. Missing shingles leave gaps that will require roof repair.
  • Peeling Exterior Paint
    If moisture is seeping into your attic from a damaged roof, it could be building up, causing the exterior paint to peel.
  • Shingle granules in gutters:
    When composite or asphalt shingles start to wear out, they will typically shed their granules. Most of the time they will find their way into the gutters and will appear as built up coarse black sand.
  • Wear and tear around roof objects:
    Various roof objects and openings such as chimneys, vents, and pipes are areas where deterioration may initially develop.
  • Dark, dirty, and wet shingles"
    If your shingles often appear to be wet, this could be the result of them not properly keeping moisture out. When moisture gets in, it can often can run down and gather in a spot beneath the shingles, causing your shingles to constantly be wet.
  • Leaks after a rainstorm:
    There could be a few causes for this, but ultimately, if you notice water in your attic after a rainstorm, something is wrong and your roof will need to be looked at.
  • Sagging roof deck:
    If you notice sagging decking or rafters in your attic, this could be from leaking moisture, which indicates there is something wrong with your roof, and you will need roof repair.
  • Light entering the attic:
    If you notice beams of light entering into your attic (not through a window), it is pretty obvious that there are openings that will allow moisture to enter.
  • Increased energy bills:
    Noticing a large spike in heating and or cooling bills may indicate that you have warm or cold air exiting quickly through the roof. Addressing this issue should help reduce the bills back to normal as long as there is not another issue at play here.
